An experienced world class athlete, sports coach and personal trainer. I have developed excellent communication skills, a depth of knowledge and the ability to get on with a wide range of people. I have experience of working with people in the leisure and fitness industry, both within the public and private sector. This has been partnered with experience gained from Olympic and world class athletes and coaches from around the world. As a hard-working and task-oriented person I enjoy working with people to improve their health, fitness and sporting abilities.
Philosophy – In my own personal view, I acknowledge that teaching/coaching/being an instructor is a challenging profession and learning is a continuous process not only for students/athletes/clients but for teachers/coaches/instructors alike; however, it is one that I thoroughly enjoy and pursue as a lifelong career. As a combination of all three, I possess the ability to demonstrate calmness under pressure and have an open eye to the many individual needs that may occur within a session, in order to create a memorable and learning process across all areas. My time management and organization skills are excellent. I am also a reliable and respected individual who understands that teaching is a rewarding career and an ever changing one.
Organization – I believe that I am a person who is able to manage and organize space as an effective teaching environment in which transitions are brief, appropriate resources are available, and little time is wasted getting organized.
Motivation – my motivation to pursue a career in teaching and specifically in the area of Physical Education came from my success and love for sport. As an athlete, I understand the level of commitment and perseverance needed to succeed, having represented Great Britain as a Speed Skater and Cyclist. I believe that through my own pursuit of sport and fitness I have developed the will and skill to teach and promote healthful and safe participation in physical activity.
